I’m Juliann and my art is a celebration of the landscapes we call home with vibrant color and whimsical abstraction.
I fill my days trailing through the idyllic Pacific Northwest, sketching and gathering inspiration. I transform my field sketches into original paintings and other handcrafted treasures in my Seattle studio. My giclée prints and greeting cards are available for wholesale

Full-Color Giclée Prints are sophisticated museum-level quality, archival prints using pigment-based inks, displaying every color and detail of the original work. All prints are on smooth bright white 100% cotton paper.

Inspiration: My first time visiting Rialto Beach was on a backpacking trip last summer. We camped on the beach and fell asleep to the sound of the rising tide. Split Rocks and the surrounding cliffs were covered in chartreuse moss. I woke up and painted the pink and tangerine sunrise, the sea stacks anchored in the waves, and the reflections that were cast on the ripples along the shoreline.

Inspiration: We thought it had gotten too cloudy to see the mountain, but as we rounded the loop and took a left, Mount Hood peeked out of the cliffside. As we drove away from the trailhead we saw the most gorgeous fluorescent pink exploding over the mountain, turning the rock purple and the snow orange in a magical alpenglow. The valley below was already blanketed in cool shade and beams of golden sunshine reflected on the brush.

Inspiration: Along Rialto Beach, you’ll find a unique sea stack called Split Rocks. The surrounding cliffs and these twin jagged pillars emerge from the waves covered in chartreuse moss that transitions into a gorgeous shade of deep turquoise below the saltwater. Fog meanders on the rocky shore and hovers on the water’s surface allowing beams of sunlight to burst through.

Inspiration: At Cannon Beach, the sea stacks are anchored in the waves, covered in chartreuse moss that transitions into a gorgeous shade of deep turquoise below the saltwater. Fog sprinkles the hilly coastline and the flat, smooth beach is covered in a thin layer of salt water that turns the surface into an infinite mirror, reflecting the surrounding landscape.

Inspiration: While visiting Whidbey Island, I explored a tide pool in Oak Harbor. Tide pools always feel otherworldly to me. I feel so huge compared to the infinite species coexisting in the ecosystem below my feet but then you look out at the vast ocean and are reminded you’re just a tiny speck of dust on a floating rock in a huge galaxy. I love the play of scale and the similarities between the macro and micro. This optical illusion dances by pushing and pulling on reality like the waves washing back and forth. I love how the rocky formations made by the tides on the shore resemble the giant mountains on the horizon and the ripples remind me of topographic maps.

Inspiration: Morning’s light blanketed the granite mountains and quietly shone on Yosemite’s valley below. The foliage awoke with vibrance and energy, dancing in the promise of a new day.

Inspiration: On my first backpacking trip to the Olympics, we hiked in and stayed the night at an alpine lake. The guys fished while I painted by the shore. Nearby a fawn and her calves grazed on leaves. In the morning, the sun dappled the evergreens turning some chartreuse and others emerald. As we packed up the deer returned to send us off- prancing around, jumping over logs, and sniffing our gear.

Inspiration: As the sun set in Yosemite Valley, soft peach light reflected on the granite mountains and cast the foliage below with pops of fiery yellow. I painted five different studies of this memory, letting the process guide each painting, and five wildly different compositions emerged. This print is a reproduction of my favorite, the 2nd painting in the set.

Inspiration: The dream home sits quietly in a dense green forest. It’s the Goldilocks of cabins- just big enough, features oversized windows, and marries the old-growth of the evergreens with sustainable new construction. Its triangular frame points to the heavens while its windows let in this world’s light. We’ll spend many days here pleasure stacking by creating art and music, basking in nature’s beauty, and sharing meals with the ones we love most.

Inspiration: On Rialto Beach, we walked down the shore, climbing over driftwood and collecting a rainbow of rocks until we were stopped by a large cliffside jutting out into the water. The tide was low so we set up our tents and left our packs, then went exploring. We walked through a perfectly arched Hole in the Wall and explored the tidepools underfoot. As we turned back towards camp, we were met with the sea stacks perfectly framed in the arching cliffside passageway.

Inspiration: In the North Cascades, in late Autumn, we wandered through Heather Meadow along a creek that supplied a network of alpine lakes. The shrubs dotted the cliffside with bursts of crimson, marigold, and clementine. Around the curves, we could spot Mount Baker and neighboring peaks blushed by the rising sun.

Inspiration: My favorite time of day is the golden hour when a fluorescent pink sunset creeps up on you with just the right amount of clouds to produce a magical alpenglow. I imagine the sun had a really great day and it needs a good stretch before bedtime as it reaches its colors across the sky. It gives the mountains a goodnight kiss and the mountains blush in return. This little public display of affection always makes up for the shorter days and longer nights.

Inspiration: For a few weeks in October, the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains become dotted with glowing golden larch trees. Larches are rare conifer trees with deciduous needles that fade from green to yellow and shed in autumn. Inspiration: In early December, we had a stretch of days with dense foggy mornings, barely able to see the end of our road, and bright, clear afternoons leaving Mount Baker visible from our living room. Our morning walks felt like wading through a dark atmospheric river. I vowed to collect snapshots in my mind and nature treasures in my pockets for the rest of the week. I allowed inspiration to fill my heart to the brim with colors, textures, shapes, and auras. Back in my studio, I spilled those ideas onto a birch panel. May this piece serve as a reminder to look for the bright spots in the dark seasons, that there can be beauty and ache at the same time, and that the fog will eventually burn off to reveal another sunny day.

Inspiration: On the first bright day of Spring, I was driving home from the north side of town in the early evening. I could see Mount Rainier more clearly than ever before and there was a vibrant marigold yellow light settling into its snow cap, melting away all the gray of our first Seattle winter.

Minimums
There is a $200 order minimum.
Reorder minimum is $75.
There is a 10 item minimum in the PRINTS category. You can mix and match sizes and designs within the print category.
There is a 20 item minimum for the CARDS category. You can mix and match greeting cards, holiday cards, and postcards
Note that you can still order if the item is not in stock.

Lead-time
For orders currently in stock, please allow 15 business days for fulfillment
If your order exceeds what is currently in stock, please allow 30 business days for fulfillment. If the order will take longer than expected, I will contact you as soon as possible! I outsource my card printing and have little wiggle-room with turnaround times.
When you place your order I will inform you of what is in stock and provide a fulfillment estimate in your confirmation email.

Shipping
Shipping charges are added to your order upon checkout. I automatically insure all packages!
Note that the charges are estimates. If the shipping + insurance costs are more than $10 over the shipping amount paid, you will be responsible for the shipping overages via invoice. Your order will not ship until this invoice is paid.
If the shipping + insurance costs are more than $1.50 under the shipping amount paid, you will be refunded the overage.
Orders ship via USPS Priority Mail to addresses within the United States.
